Let’s Talk About The Role of Certified Deaf Interpreters
Sometimes, one interpreter is not enough. Certified Deaf Interpreters (CDIs) are deaf professionals who provide additional layers of fluency and understanding beyond that provided by traditional hearing ASL interpreters.
Our panel of experts includes Shawn Vriezen, CErtified Deaf Interpreter, and Danielle Meder, (hearing) ASL interpreter and language access advocate. A non-panelist ASL interpreter will be present to facilitate the discussion and to accommodate the host/audience understanding.
Attendees can expect to learn more about this niche (yet crucial) branch of interpretation. Our moderator, Tucker Johnson of Nimdzi Insights, is a long time language industry veteran who has just recently become aware himself, and is eager to learn more and not afraid to ask the “dumb” questions the hearing community wants to know.
